We have developed a product that will enable the operator to expand the trailer in the future to increase capability. Various axle modules can be added along with Chassis Insert sections WITHOUT compromising steering geometry.

This style of trailer that both widens and either extends in length are inherent for having the steering compromised in one configuration or the other. Other makes can only extend their trailers by adding Axle sets which often aren’t required but are used simply to get deck length. That’s where our Insert comes in. There is no need to spend hours or sometimes days (where multiple axle rows are coupled), to remove tie rods and reposition them to alter steering geometry.

TRT now have a proven product operating that fixes the above steering issue.

Our Modular Trailers are equipped with an electronic steering system. It can be set up by the operator from the controller in the Truck’s cab with the touch of a button (on the screen) to select the required configuration. Once selected the steering angle of all wheels will automatically change to the pre-programmed angles for that configuration whether it be width or length.

The Platform Modules are manufactured using Hi tensile steel and AR450 deck sheet (8mm), providing a strong yet flexible trailer, whilst minimizing the tare weight.
With a deep coaming rail, deepest in the industry at around 400mm with a special pressed return on the lower edge to add stiffness – Thickness of plate is 6mm grade 80, with an internal doubler of 10mm at each wheel arch. The Coaming rail is Plasma cut with a slight radius, which will allow the Decks to be fabricated with a positive camber. This method of construction produces a very stiff trailer with reduced deflection.
The rear Joint has an offset of inbuilt camber to assist with deflection when set up in its longest configuration (in the future).

The Platform trailer is designed using TRT’s Unique Swivel axle and double acting hydraulic suspension, allowing each axle to be steerable and to be lifted through 650mm of travel.
The trailer consists of 2 widening decks. The Gooseneck is TRT’s unique compensating Gooseneck. This feature will aid traction. The Gooseneck is “live” on and off highway and moves up and down with the terrain allowing constant load into the Drive or dolly.
Gooseneck length is designed for Dolly hook up.

TRT’s unique Quick Connect joint. Now using 2 Double acting Hydraulic cylinders combined with the Friction fit top coupling system at each joint. Coupled to the ESS steering system (Innovation Patent # 201802100) the trailers steering is reconfigured at the touch of a button to have the combination on the road in under 30 mins between joints.

Chassis

Fabricated with sliding outer deck loading platforms. Trailer chassis built from Grade 80 Hi Tensile Steel. Strenex steel chassis & Hardox (AR450) deck sheets from SSAB.

Coaming Rail

6mm Grade 80 Hi Tensile Plate. This is pressed at the bottom edge with the top edge plasma cut in a radius to achieve a positive camber of around 30mm. The coaming rail is a deep 350 approx. mm section to reduce deflection.  Internal doublers fitted at each wheel arch.

Gooseneck

Wear strap fitted to front face of Chassis rails. Gooseneck design is as low profile as possible whilst maintaining sufficient clearance on the underside for your truck and for a 2x8 dolly to swing clear.

Hydraulic Fully Compensating Gooseneck

Gooseneck fitted with TRT’s Hydraulic fully compensating cylinder. This is plumbed to an accumulator to allow constant weight on the drive during road mode. It is supplied with a control on the Radio Remote to adjust (lift/lower the front of the trailer), for deflection due to load or to achieve more ground clearance on tight cambered terrain. This Gooseneck design allows the Skid plate to move up & down (approx. 400mm of stroke at King Pin) depending on the terrain automatically, taking all the shock & stress out of the complete combination & providing maximum traction.

Decking

8mm AR 450 Hi Tensile steel (plus Flitches) over complete deck.  This method of construction puts the strength where it’s needed without increasing tare weight unnecessarily. Deck plate edge will be fully welded to coaming. Forming an 8mm lip. Internal deck area fully enclosed when trailer is closed. Turn down inside edge to prevent buckling.

Load Restraints

 Chain Load restraints set into Coaming Rail and to outside of deck area.  Restraints fitted to Gooseneck outside face. Stainless steel protectors fitted at coaming rail.

Suspension

TIDD Double Acting Hydraulic Swivel Suspension, fitted with unique European Angular contact Spherical Bearing with 650mm of stroke. Any axle group can be lifted hydraulically at the touch of a lever & locked out.

Widening

Several locking positions between 3090mm closed to 4400mm open.

Steering

All axles will be controlled through an Electronic sensed steering system. Each axle will be controlled individually by a hydraulic ram that will ratio the correct steering angle in unison with all the trailers axles. This will have an unlimited variable forward length programmed to optimize steering angles.

1 x 3 1/2” Bolt up Pin supplied.

Part of design criteria for swing clearance.

Skid Plate Height

Set @ 1300mm for 1350mm 5th wheel height, Skid Plate Built as an Oscillating unit.

Axles

17.5” TMC (unitised bearing system), 10 stud grease filled hubs.

Rims/Tyres

17.5 x 6.00 -10 stud Polished Alloy wheels with 215 75R 17.5 Tubeless O’Green tyres. (2 spares on Neck of Trailer as spares).

Spare Wheel Mount

Provision for 2 (Double stacked) spares, I.E., 4 of on Neck retained by J hook, allowing them to be moved to main deck if reqd. Provision at Load restraint each corner of main deck at front to move tyres too if reqd.

Spare Wheels

Two spare wheels provided on Compensating Gooseneck.

 Full Air to NZ heavy transport brake rule.

Lighting

LED lighting system. Multi Volt. Side markers at typically 2m spacing.

Hydraulics

Control Valve to operate Deck Widening & suspension & Steering by Rex Roth placed in locations to optimize connection points & minimize hose lengths.         All valves plumbed to Power pack.

Remote Control

Fully Proportional AUTEC remote provided for all functions. (similar remote to your ESS House trailers)

Greasing

Manifold greasing at each wheel group for all modules. Manual greasing at each swivel bearing assembly easily accessible from outside of trailer. Note: SBX special grease required in these bearings.

Power pack

One power pack fitted to Gooseneck of Main Trailer.

Yanmar 4TNV98 – 61HP on Gooseneck, four-cylinder water cooled engine, Water cooled Diesel power pack c/w return line filtration/filler breather & Pressure filter. Power pack covered in & noise level considered.

AES System

Accumulator emergency Steer system provided

on Gooseneck.

Toolboxes

1 large toolbox with side opening door per side on lead trailer (Total of 2). 1 Chain box per side.

Joint Provision

Quick Connect. Connected via 2 Hydraulic cylinders at the rear of lead trailer and each module. Pin & machined wear block system to the top surface. This allows for multiple module additions (for future capability), and the ramp connection. All connection plates are supplied with full services, hydraulic, air and electrical. Includes Screw together minimum spill couplings.

Paint

2K (2 pack) Dupont Paint system using Electrostatic application to reach those difficult to cover areas. All steelwork is grit blasted to a 50-micron profile prior to Painting. Painted one colour (Additional colours available at no additional charge provided masking is not reqd). Sign writing, graphics & stripping are not included.

Special non-skid applied to deck surface for safety.

Ramp Module (included)

One set of Ramps at 1050mm wide x 3m long set up on its own demountable sub system designed to fit rear of either Lead Trailer or any Modular Clip-on selected, (using TRT unique Quick Connect system).
